Hey, I’m Emma. If we’re going to work together, you should know who I am and why I care so deeply about what I do. So grab a comfy seat (and maybe a cuppa), let’s get acquainted.

A few years ago, I was in a place much like the women I now coach. By day, I was a successful professional, ticking all the right boxes. At home, I was a devoted wife trying my best to support my husband through severe mental health struggles. I was the one who “had it all together”… except, inside, I didn’t. I felt tired, overwhelmed, and utterly lost like I was disappearing under the weight of everyone else’s needs.

My turning point arrived on a cold, grey afternoon I’ll never forget. I was sitting in my car, having just fled the house because I felt I simply couldn’t cope for one more minute. I remember gripping the steering wheel, driving aimlessly around the corner, and then I broke down sobbing. In that moment of despair, I called my best friend and finally said the words out loud: “I don’t know how to keep going.” It was one of the hardest days of my life. Not long after, my worst fear came true, my husband went missing during a mental health crisis, and I found myself calling the police, heart pounding and mind racing.

But here’s the thing: as terrifying and heartbreaking as that day was, I also felt a glimmer of strength within me that I never knew I had. In the aftermath, I realised all the inner work I had tentatively started doing, learning to challenge the stories I was telling myself, releasing the guilt that weighed on me, setting healthier boundaries, and slowly building my own resilience, it mattered. It got me through that crisis and many days after. It also showed me, with crystal clarity, what my mission in life was becoming.

That dark period sparked a journey of growth and discovery. I began working with a life coach of my own, initially thinking I was just trying to be a better leader at work. In reality, I was learning how to be a better leader in my own life. Week by week, with my coach’s support, I started to reclaim pieces of myself. I dared to pursue hobbies that lit me up. I pushed myself to do things I hadn’t done in years (or ever): from saying “no” at work and not feeling guilty, to taking a weekend away with friends and actually enjoying it without constant worry.

The impact was so profound that I knew I had to pay it forward. I remember thinking, “Every woman who feels like I did needs to know it doesn’t have to be this way.” It felt like a fire had been lit inside me, a calling to become a coach and support other women the way my coach had supported me. So I dove in.

I’ll keep this part short and sweet (because what really matters is the human stuff, right?). I am an EMCC Accredited Practitioner Coach, which is a fancy way of saying I’ve met rigorous professional standards set by the European Mentoring & Coaching Council. I’ve been fortunate to train with and even work alongside some world-class coaches and mentors, including Dr. Sarah Madigan’s Joy Movement and the renowned Paul Mort and Pippa Matthew’s coaching programs. In fact, I was humbled (and frankly shocked!) to be named Coach of the Year in 2023 by Paul Mort’s Coaching Academy.

What does all that mean for you? It means you’re in caring, capable hands. I bring proven techniques, ethical practice, and a wealth of experience to our sessions. More importantly, I bring my whole heart.

(Just so you know: While I’m experienced in supporting people through tough times, I’m not a medical or mental health clinician. I am, however, a trained Mental Health First Aider, so I can definitely point you toward additional resources or professional help if you or your loved one need it. Coaching with me is a powerful complement to other support, not a replacement for medical care.)

Enough with the resume… here’s who I am as a person. I’m a wife (married to my favorite human) James and a proud cat mum to Pacha. Don’t worry, dog lovers, I adore dogs too and will 100% fawn over yours if we’re on a video call.

I’m a bit of an adventure seeker in my own way. I love to ski (and can just about snowboard without falling on my bum too much). My husband and I converted an old van into a camper, and one of our favourite things to do is set off to explore new corners of the UK. Give me a quiet lakeside or a rugged beach and I’m in my happy place – I’ll swim in any natural body of water that isn’t frozen solid! When I can’t get to the ocean, you’ll find me at the local lake almost every week, getting my open-water swim fix.

At home, I’m equal parts homebody and music lover. You might catch me blasting 90s dance anthems or singing at the top of my lungs to some nostalgic Spice Girls tune while cooking dinner. (Music that you can feel in your soul is kinda my jam – from indie rock gigs to Disney soundtracks, I love it all.) I also enjoy a good podcast, especially when I’m driving. Two of my current faves? Sh**ged Married Annoyed (it makes me snort-laugh in traffic) and Armchair Expert for those deep, honest conversations.

Above all, I’m someone who believes in the power of honesty, humour, and heart. I believe life is too short to pretend to be someone you’re not. I believe in kindness and real talk, in asking for help when you need it, and in the absolute magic that happens when women support each other.

So that’s me, in a nutshell… an ordinary woman who came through challenges with a mission: to ensure no woman ever feels like she has to lose herself in taking care of others or in chasing society’s idea of success. If you’re here, I already know you have a story of your own, and I’m honored you’re considering sharing a piece of it with me.
